专利说明:
536 667 - a spring mounted in the recess inside the locking member, against the action of which the locking member is displaceable inwards in the recess from a projecting position where a part of the locking member is outside the opening to a retracted position where the entire locking member is in the recess, - an internally threaded second fasteners designed to engage the first fastener. The fastening system is characterized in that the locking member is in the form of a locking ball and that the second fastening member is provided in its internal thread with a recess, which recess is adapted to receive, when it lies in the middle of the opening arranged in the first fastening member, a segment of the barrier ball. By means of the fastening system according to the invention, the two fastening means are prevented from being threaded apart by mistake, but the fastening means can easily be detached from each other by means of a tool, or by hand force. The design of the locking member as a locking ball allows the locking member to rotate in the recess. The friction is thus kept low when the second fastening member is screwed over the locking ball and the wear on the internal thread of the second fastening member can thus be minimized. According to a preferred embodiment, the recess at a first end adjacent to the opening has a section with a continuously decreasing width towards the opening. In this embodiment, a relatively large segment of the barrier ball may lie outside the opening in the advanced position, but the opening may still be so small that the barrier ball is held securely in place. According to a preferred embodiment, the recess is cylindrical or substantially cylindrical, preferably circular-cylindrical. In this embodiment, the recess can be easily accomplished by a bore. According to a further preferred embodiment, the recess extends in the radial direction of the first fastening member. Because the recess extends in the radial direction of the externally threaded fastener 536 667, the spring force can be utilized to the maximum. The recess will also be easy to manufacture. According to a preferred embodiment, the recess at a second end has a second opening and the fastening system also comprises a closing means designed to be brought into engagement from the outside of the first fastening means with the other end of the recess and form a shoulder for the spring mounted in the recess. Through the second opening it becomes easy to make the recess by, for example, drilling and the ratchet ball can be mounted by being inserted through the second opening, which does not have to have a width which is smaller than the diameter of the ratchet ball. According to a further preferred embodiment, the recess at the other end has an internally threaded section and the closing member consists of a clamping screw designed for engagement with the internally threaded section, by means of which clamping screw the tension of the spring can be adjusted. In this embodiment, the tension of the spring can be adjusted so that the locking of the fastening members becomes relatively more or less easy to loosen. The clamping screw also provides a very secure closure of the recess. According to one embodiment, the first fastening means consists of a bolt or a screw and the second fastening means of a nut. According to a further embodiment, the first fastening means consists of a wheel bolt and the second fastening means of a nut. The fastening system according to this embodiment is adapted for use when attaching wheels to vehicles. This is especially useful for heavy motor vehicles such as trucks and buses. The fastening system according to this embodiment effectively prevents accidents where such heavy vehicles lose a wheel while driving as a result of nuts loosening themselves from the wheel bolts that hold the wheel in place, due to, for example, vibrations. 536 667 BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS With reference to the accompanying drawings, a detailed description of embodiments of the invention now follows. Fig. 1a is a partially cut-away side view of a second fastening member included in a fastening system according to the invention; Fig. 1b schematically shows a cross-section of the fastening member in Fig. 1a; Fig. 2a is a partially cut-away side view of a part of a first fastening member included in a fastening system according to the invention; Fig. 2b is a perspective view of the fastener of Fig. 2a; and Fig. 3 shows a fastening system according to the invention in perspective view. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION Fig. 3 shows a fastening system according to the invention. The fastening system comprises a first fastening means 10 provided with an external thread 16, here shown in the form of a screw, and an internally threaded second fastening means 20, here shown in the form of a nut. Fig. 2a and Fig. 2b show the first fastening member 10 in greater detail. The first fastening means is provided with a recess 11 with a first and a second end. At the first end, the recess has an opening 12 arranged in the threaded part of the first fastening member 10. The width of the opening 12 is smaller than that of the recess. Mounted in the recess 11 is a locking member 13 in the form of a locking ball 13, the diameter of which is larger than the width of the opening 12. Inside the ratchet ball 13 a spring 14 is arranged, which with one end abuts against a shoulder 15 and with its other end abuts against the ratchet ball 13. The spring 14 is designed so that it loads the ratchet ball 13 536 667 with a spring force so that the ratchet ball is pressed in the direction of the opening 12. In an advanced position, a segment of the barrier ball 13 is outside the opening 12, so that the leading point of the barrier ball projecting from the opening is approximately flush with the top 16a of the external thread 16. The ratchet ball 13 is held in place in the recess 11 due to the fact that the width of the opening 12 is smaller than the diameter of the ratchet ball 13. The spring 14 should be a compression spring and is preferably a cylindrical helical spring. The second fastener 20 is shown in a side view with a partially exposed thread in Fig. 1a and a cross-section of the second fastener 20 is shown in Fig. 1b. The second fastening member 20 is provided with an internal thread 26 designed for engagement with the external thread 16 of the first fastening member 10. In the inner thread 26 a recess 23 is arranged, which is designed to be able to receive the segment of the locking ball 13 which in the advanced position is outside the opening 12. In use, the first fastener 10 is brought into engagement with the second fastener 20 by screwing the threads 16, 26 together. When the internal thread 26 of the second fastening member 20 comes into contact with the ratchet ball 13, the ratchet ball is pushed back, against the action of the spring 14, to a retracted position where the entire ratchet ball 13 is in the recess 11 inside the opening 12. The ratchet ball 13 is in the retracted position to until the recess 23 in the internal thread 26 ends up in the middle of the opening 12. The locking ball 13 is then pushed forward by the spring 14 and ends up in the advanced position with a segment of the locking ball 13 received in the recess 23. The fastening system is thus secured in this position. To continue screwing, or to screw in the other direction, the screwing must take place with such a force that the internal thread 26 of the second fastening member 20 is able to push the locking ball 13 back into the retracted position against the action of the spring 14. The tension of the spring 14 can be adjusted so that this can be done with the aid of a tool, such as a rim cross, but so that the fastening system cannot be threaded out by itself by, for example, vibrations. In this way, the fastening system is secured in a position where the second fastening member 536 667 cannot detach from the first fastening member 10 due to, for example, vibrations, but must be unscrewed intentionally. According to the embodiment shown in the drawings, the recess 11 has at its first end, in direct connection with the opening 12, a section where the width of the recess 11 decreases continuously towards the opening 12. This section forms a bevelled edge from the recess towards the opening, so that the ratchet ball in the advanced position can come further forward than is possible with a straight cut edge. The recess 11 is in the embodiment shown in the drawings in the form of a circular cylinder which extends in the radial direction of the first fastening member 10. Of course, the recess can also have another shape, such as cylindrical with a square as the base surface. The main thing is that the design of the recess 11 allows the locking ball 13 to be displaced from the advanced to the retracted position against the action of the spring 14, and back to the advanced position by the spring force. Preferably, the recess has a cylindrical or a substantially cylindrical shape. According to the embodiment shown in the drawings, the recess 11 is continuous in the first fastening member 10, with two openings in the threaded part, partly the first opening 12 and partly a second opening 18. In a first end of the recess 11 the locking ball 13 is mounted as described above . The second end of the recess 11 is designed to receive a closing member 17, which is designed to be brought into engagement with the second end from the outside of the first fastening member 10 through the second opening 18. The closing member 17, when mounted, constitutes the shoulder 15 against which the spring 14 abuts. In the drawings, the closing member 17 is constituted by a clamping screw 17, by means of which the tension of the spring 14 can be adjusted. The recess 11 is in this case provided at its other end with an internal thread adapted for engagement with the clamping screw 17. The recess 11 and the clamping screw 17 must be designed so that the clamping screw 17 can be completely inside the external thread 16 of the first fastening member 10, since 536 667 it otherwise prevents the second fastener 20 from engaging the first fastener 10. Instead of using a clamping screw as a closure member, a closure member that is otherwise secured may be used. An example is an unthreaded bolt, which can be fastened with friction. It is also possible to close the recess at its other end by means of soldering, welding or the like. The fastening system according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in attaching wheels to heavy motor vehicles, such as buses and lorries. The first fastening member 10 then consists of an at least partially threaded wheel bolt or wheel screw, and the second fastening member 20 of a nut. The recess 11 in the wheel bolt is arranged so that the fastening system is secured in a position where the wheel is securely fastened to the hub. The tension of the spring 14 must be adjusted so that the wheel cannot come loose from the hub due to the vibrations that occur when the vehicle is driven. The embodiments of the invention described above are, of course, to be considered as examples only. It is obvious that these can be modified within the scope of the invention and that the invention is thus not limited to the mentioned embodiments.
